Local search is a relatively new SEO and Search Marketing concept that is severely underutilized and unknown. Essentially, it’s the way local, neighborhood businesses are found on the web.

How is Local Search impacting businesses? It is bringing in whole new revenue streams! It’s changing the very way we shop and buy goods and services in our communities! It’s a revolution! Local Search will only continue to grow and prosper. Major pundits are saying that the web will influence a trillion dollars of off-line local spending within three to four years.
How do you get in on the action of local search? Well, first of all, if you don’t have a website, you’ll need one as soon as possible. That’s a given. Next, you’ll need to optimize your copy. You’ll also need to optimize the site – make sure you use a web designer who knows SEO. Make sure you have used all your keyword terms plus the local cities and geographic words. This is absolutely critical to being found.
If you do pizza delivery, focus on your prices, specials and fast delivery in your copywriting. If you are a plumber or pest control business, your copywriting should reflect your 24/7 availability and customer satisfaction. Focusing on what’s most important to your local audience will serve you very well.
Once you are benefiting from local search, be sure to analyze the traffic you are getting. If you need to tweak a few things in the copy or add some more pages to your site, do it. Local search could change the very way you do business.
